Formerly know as Jazz Connection in the Elizabeth City Area, Connected
was formed in 1996 by Wayne James, band director of Northeastern High
School. Dennis Figgs soon afterward joined the group. James plays trumpet
and flugel horn, and Figgs plays piano and keyboards.
Connected has performed in the Albemarle Area for various occasions and
receptions, dinner parties and concerts, as well as in surrounding states and
counties. Current members include Ellard Forrester (director of bands at
ECSU) on drums, Maurice LeFlore (assistant director of bands at ECSU)
on saxophones, Chabra “CJ” Mercer (ECSU Alumnus) on bass, and
Andrea Morris on vocals. Other members include: Dr. Steve Raisor,
Wesley Clark, and Michael Gregory.
